President's Message
So many good things to report this month! It was a pleasure for all of us to see and visit with our recent President, Jan Wallace, at Wednesday's General Meeting and Luncheon. She so thoughtfully reflected on these past six months in New York and joyfully shared that her husband, Michael, is responding well to treatment. The joy of her children and grandchildren has made an otherwise difficult step a most pleasurable one! We wish them all the best. Should you like to send a note to Jan, their New York address can be found in the UPWC Directory addendum that you received this Spring. Speaking of the Directories, your Website Coordinator, Kathy Bondur, has diligently worked with the Webmaster to add a tab to the web site soon so that your local information can be accessed by the members. Simply put, you will have a password that you will enter to view the online Membership Directory. Changes can only be made by the Website Coordinator or Membership Chairwoman. Special thanks to my Co-2nd Veeps, Anne Walsh and Linda Schauer, and a big assist from Katy Arrillaga for once again putting on one of the best luncheons I have had the pleasure of attending! Huge attendance with 146 members and guests and the presentation of a $10,000 check to Just for Girls Academy principal Dr Jennifer Rosenboom. Wonderful work being done by her leadership and the efforts of Outreach Co-chairs Ann Nellis and Kris Higgerson. Well done! These talented ladies have cooked up another creative General Meeting and Luncheon for Friday, June 7th at Mattison's 41 restaurant with Chef Paul providing a demonstration and serving two of the entrees that he has created especially for our memership. Also at this meeting will be the installation for our new 2013-2014 Board of Directors which I am very excited about! Your Social Chairwomen, Deborah Van Brunt and Nancy Harmon, have planned a summer social outing for a "Night of Oldies" concert in the outdoor area of the Van Wezel Auditorium on Friday, June 21st. Whether your summer takes you near or far, I wish you all of the best and look forward to seeing you all in October. Best~ Beckie Suverkrup, President
